How We Began...
In 1939 Walter Binkley began a feed and fertilizer store as well as a fledgling tractor dealership in Rothsville, Lancaster County, PA. Years later, David Binkley, Walter’s only son, joined the business which became known as Walter Binkley & Son. The J.I. Case Farm & Industrial product lines were eventually added to the Huber Tractor line.
In 1973 Leonard Hurst and Amos Hurst, Jr, employees of David Binkley, invested in the business and the company name, Binkley & Hurst Brothers, Inc, was adopted. In the ensuing years Binkley & Hurst Brothers Inc. evolved into a workforce of nearly seventy employees supplying and servicing the agricultural equipment needs of Eastern Pennsylvania and the surrounding area. In the 1990s Binkley & Hurst developed one of the country’s largest farm toy stores, doing business internationally with multiple toy brands and manufacturers. In 2005 “Outback Toys” moved into their own location in historic Lititz. The 5,000+ square foot showroom attracts visitors from around the world.

Over the years, numerous specialty lines of agricultural equipment were added to the Binkley & Hurst product offering. That led to the dealership’s acquisition of contracts with Sunflower Mfg., Kinze Mfg., McCormick and others. In 2006 senior managers of Binkley & Hurst Bros. Inc. formed Binkley & Hurst LP and purchased the business assets from Amos and Leonard. Binkley & Hurst, LP is an employee owned limited partnership. Don Hoover, long-time sales manager at Binkley & Hurst Bros. Inc., serves as president.
In addition to Case IH products and a variety of specialty products like Gehl, Kinze, Trioliet, and Sunflower, Binkley & Hurst LP was approved as an AGCO dealer in 2006 and represents the following AGCO brands: AGCO Tractors, Gleaner, New Idea, Hesston, Sunflower and Ag-Chem. Farmers are also able to order parts for their Allis Chalmers, Oliver, White, and AGCO tractors.
A new chapter was written in the history of Binkley & Hurst when the assets of Lebanon Valley Implements Company, a neighboring dealer from Lebanon County, were purchased by Binlkey & Hurst LP in October 2009. Several product lines are common between the two entities and the addition of complimentary products serves to enhance the range of goods and services offered by Binkley & Hurst. The addition of a Challenger® contract affords perhaps the most significant new product potential.
B&H Carriers, LP was formed to better provide for the transport needs of the Binkley & Hurst group. B&H Carriers also hauls for hire. This way the transportation capacity of Binkley & Hurst will not only be used internally but will be available as a service to other commercial interest in the region.
The Binkley & Hurst Team is determined to strive for excellence in customer service. We highly value the many long-term relationships which God has entrusted to us. It is our desire to build on those relationships and expand the business as providence allows. We are committed to godly stewardship of all our resources and look forward to providing premium products and supportive services for many years to come.
